Just a wee question I have taken this for years but recently i was put on a double dose of this for terrible acid reflux but been getting awful chest pain gp said to continue with it x

Omeprazole reduces stomach acid. The fact that, if hypothyroid, we don't have sufficient stomach acid and because the symptoms of over/under are nearly identical the doctors prescribe ppi's,

Your GP may be unaware of the fact of low acid in hypo so discuss it with him first and you could write a short note and enclose the following before your appointment. They don't usually like to have something sprung on them and might appreciate it.
