Hi, langdociene. Yes, I have used dmso for some years now, even drinking it from time to time. Here in the states, it is most commonly used for pain... arthritis, joint pain, injuries (sprained ankles, tendonitis etc), burns.

Always dilute the dmso with distilled water... not tap water. Dmso is a 'carrier' and takes everything around it, with it, into the body. Read the label. You want the purest product you can get.. 99+% and it can be in a 70 or 90% dilution. Dilute as much as 50% with distilled water when applying it above the waist where the skin is not as thick and is more reactive. Always apply with clean hands to clean skin... no moisturizers etc. It is very uncommon to NOT have a reaction... redness, slight stinging and itchiness. The more often you apply the dmso, the less reaction you will have until finally, you will have little or no reaction. Always dab it on... do not rub it in.

Always pour the dmso into another small glass container from the main container. You don't want to contaminate your larger bottle. You can apply it with your hands/fingers. Leave it on the skin for 10 - 20 mins, then gentle remove any residue. Dmso tends to leave a slight oiliness behind. If you apply it very often to a particular area, dmso can be drying. This is easily offset by applying something like organic coconut oil or organic jojoba oil or even olive oil. If you won't put something in your mouth, don't put it on dmso.

The negatives of dmso are the temporary itchiness, redness I mentioned above and... it leaves behind a peculiar odor for some folks. Everyone's body chemistry is different. Some have no odor, for others it can be pronounced. This weird odor (some have likened it to garlic-like or like old gym socks...lol) is why the FDA cannot hold clinical trials on it. They can't do double blind studies because of the dmso reaction and odor. Every one would know whether they were getting the 'real deal' or not. Some users swear that the purer the product, the less the odor. I have never had a problem with dmso 'odor' and trust me, hubby would give me a hard time if I 'smelled'..lol.

The FDA has approved dmso for one particular bladder condition and any other uses of it are 'off label' for humans. Vets use it on million dollar race horses here in the states. It is also used to preserve and pack transplant organs when they are transported.

There is a book that is considered the 'bible' on dmso usage and history...

"DMSO - Nature's Healer" by Dr. Morton Walker that is an excellent primer on dmso

usage. It is available on Amazon UK.

Just a final note... dmso has a few particular properties... 1) dmso give off a very slight heat when mixed with distilled water. This is perfectly normal and passes in seconds. 2) Dmso will harden/freeze when it is put in a fridge.. not the freezer, the fridge. Some folks put their dmso in the fridge, let it stay until it is solid then pour off any liquid that remains. They think this will get rid of any slight impurities. I have never done this and have had no problem.
