This is a re-post as I didn't get any replies, anyone?
I've been getting worsening palpitations recently and the Dr has referred me to the Palpitations clinic. He advised me to cut out caffeine and spicy food. So I've been experimenting with what food and/or drink might be triggering them and I've discovered its sugar. Anyone else have this?

Absolutely yes, i do.... I also get it with other carbohyrates.... Particularly rice. I ate some wholegrain rice with a meal a couple of months ago and found that my blood sugar was up in the 20's and my heart rate had shot up to 116 before i had even left the table.
I bought myself a blood sugar monitor early on this year and started to really test which foods pushed up the sugar and the heart rate...... I got an accuchek mobile.... Not the cheapest but very easy and it plugs into your computer to do graphs......
Doctor was fairly uninterested and one doc said i was fine, the other said it was diabetes type 2 and handed out metformin..... The diet advice js low fat but carbs with each meal..... The diabetes forum say no carbs, high fat is fine...... Am going with the collective knowlege of the forum .... It seems like a better option.
All the heart stuff has gone..... Along with the asthma symptoms which seemed to go along with it........
Have just come back from a walk up to Crich in Derbshire..... The steepest hill you can imagine..... and lots of mud... And was fine.
Thanks Galathea , I've been thinking about getting a monitor to check my levels through the day. All my glucose and diabetes tests so far have been normal though.
I'm still undiagnosed HypoT as my Tsh stays around 3 in the summer and 4 in the winter.
All my issues are hormone related. Whether its night sweats the week b4 AF or insulin and cortisol issues. Fed up with it all now!
But what you report just goes to show that 'whole grains' make no difference. Whole grains raise blood glucose. Have you tried oatmeal? I checked with my glucosemeter and the rise in glucose was totally 'normal'. Actually surprised me because I figured, mehhhh, bl**dy stuff will spike things. Nope.
When I was taking T3 my blood sugars went crazy. I can take 6.25 mcg and it's okay but anything over 10 mcg and WOW!!!! No point in chipping pills to get 6.25 mcg. And impossible to cut pills into 8ths..... bah. Back on levothyroxine just higher dose. Blood sugars are normal with this.
But with T3 I was getting spikes up to 18! Freakout time! Never in my life did this every happen before.
Oatmeal? As in porridge? Well i had sone porridge last week, felt ok, so didnt bother to test..... Most carbs, things like rice, bread, pasta, pastry i dont much like anyway, so not eating them isn't difficult.
I have taken t3 in the past and bever checked my blood sugar, though i was not feeling 100%. I know this because my doc was concerned enough to do a gtt test 10 years ago. I felt absolutely terrible on the drive home, and had to lie down for a while.... I only recently found out that my blodd glucose level was 3 when i left the docs! Whaaat? They should have given me something to eat, .... No wonder i felt so bad.
Yeah, same thing was happening to me when I was on T3. Updownupdown. I didn't 'feel' it but I was checking on the glucose meter. Of course my GP thought I was bonkers. I told her my grandfather died of diabetes so that pacified her. But honestly, wow! Sweet potato and roasted potato were the worstest.
When I started on T3 back in late 2012/early 2013 I was peeing my pants. I was at home so okay, not embarassing, but I ran out of clothes. I didn't check my blood glucose at the time but I bet it was running high.
When I did start checking blood glucose, it would sky rocket and then bomb down to low 3s. That's why I stopped the T3. I'd rather have a lowish fT3 than end up diabetic.
Also I was getting major ringing in the ears from the T3. It was entirely dose related. When I experimented and took 25 mcg in 24 hours, the cicadas were really busy breeding in my head. Okay, obviously not but the ringing in the ears got worse the higher the dose. And the blood sugar dives were worse the higher the T3 dose.
i really wish people who decide to explore the T3 option would also check their blood sugars. No doubt there are people who are entirely fine. But also no doubt there are people who are not fine.
What you have are 'ectopic heart beats' Your heart isn't missing a beat, its a delayed beat that really thumps when it happens. I have loads of them too. You only have to search 'ectopic heart beats thyroid' on here to see how common they are with hypo. GPs think that heart issues only happen with Hyper, but its quite obviously not true!
