Success! Papers Accepted!

We've two papers formally accepted today. The first one is our review which has been through a great deal of trial in getting accepted. In this we as it were throw in the kitchen sink, stove, tables and chairs and anything else, to produce a complete overarching description of our thinking on thyroid function control - which of course includes and rationalises the problems that people on this site suffer from re their therapeutic needs. Our review challenges present day thinking of such as the BTA/RCP as to the universality of T4 therapy. The second is in The Lancet and simply puts forward our view, using Bianco's rat studies, as his corroboration of our human ones. Altogether a good day for objective science!

Well done, and thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! Your work has already has an impact on my endo (after I gave him one of your recent papers to read - he must have had the journal on his desk, but hadn't read it). I believe it was one of the factors which led to him finally offering me some T3. Keep up the good work, you are helping to extend our lives as well as making it possible for us to have a better quality of life.

Hi - what paper was that? It could help me with my next endo visit. I'm hoping to start a t3 trial.

Yes, and if they are not readily available owing to limiting money-demand sites, I'll post them to Louise Warvill for general access by TUK members.

Well done and thanks.

diogenes,

I am so pleased - we absolutely need that overarching picture.

From my first starting to read about thyroid, the gaps in the picture glared out at me. I have never believed that things quite hang together as the standard picture is painted.

Very happy to hear this has been accepted and published. The conclusion:

"..........., our study has shown that all thyroid hormones

(TSH, FT4 and FT3) and deiodinases have their individual

though interlocking parts to play in realizing the condition related

patterns of thyroidal expression, regulation and metabolic

activity. Equilibria among thyroid parameters cannot be

simplistically interpreted using the limits of normality established

in complete thyroid health, questioning the role of universally

applicable diagnostic criteria for TSH. It also suggests

revisiting the regimes for treatment optimization."

Yay!! Just need the medical profession to sit up and take notice :)
