as i see many are on higher doses nd i was just wondering if anyone is always on 25 and feels the benefits enough to have no higher dose.

Anyone on 25mg levo all the time

We are all different and require different doses, if 25 is all you need that's fine. I am fine on a relatively low dose of 112.5 considering I have no working thyroid.
how long have you been on 25mg and are you borderline?
I am on 25 at the moment, been on it for around 4 weeks due to have blood test soon, been borderline for a couple of years but been ill, with a few hypo symptoms that i think were thought to be lack of iron and menopause issues.Fatigue is the most horrible thing ever and crept up on me.also breathless while doing nothing, dizzy when standing or sitting even falling over, very dry skin itching all over body with no rash, bones painful/sore, very heavy periods that can last up to 5 months and i s usually on average 3 weeks long with one week off.had iron infusion which did not help and showed no improvement at follow up blood test.Having another infusion this week.I just wondered if anyone did stay stable on that dose?
I've known two very elderly women, 80's and 90's, that were taking that dose. This was long before I understood anything about hypothyroidism. Now it seems very unusual to me but I don't know when they began taking it or why. All the friends I know of take at least 100 mcgs of levo or one grain of NDT.
I wonder at that small dose whether you need it at all. Perhaps improving the other factors that support your own thyroid would be as helpful.
25 mcg often makes people feel worse, because it can stop the thyroid gland producing the little it was managing to produce. Imagine, for example, your gland is putting out 50 mcg T4. You start taking 25, and it stops the gland from producing anything. That means that in actual fact, you have had a reduction of hormone by 25 mcg. That can make you feel much worse, and your TSH rise.
A normal starting dose is 50, which usually has to be increased after 6 weeks. But, as has been said, we are all different and all need different amounts. By the sound of your symptoms, you are going to need quite a bit more than 25. Does the thought of taking more bother you? You need what you need, and there's no way round that. But have you had your B12 tested? Because breathlessness and dizziness could be due to that.
Not sure about b12 will post my next lot of results when i get them, does not bother me at all what i am on so long as i start to feel human again.
