I was diagnosed with Polymyalgia 4 months ago.I have a wonderful Doctor and have been seen by a Rheumathologist both of whom advise Prednisone. My bloods are high so I
Am being monitored closely while I have opted for a very healthy diet combined with supplements. I have massive fatigue, bearable shoulder and muscle aches and have developed bronchitis.I am shedding hair and feel very depressed some days. But despite all this feel I am recently showing a degree of improvement.
I would so appreciate contact with anyone who has chosen a similar route.I live in London and feel a small support network would be to fellow suffers.

I am sorry you have such a painful condition. I know too that pain can also be caused by hypthyroidism and wonder if you have had a blood test for your thyroid hormones, including TSH, T4, T3, Free T4 and Free T3. I assume they've also tested your Vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.
If you've had a blood test, if you can get a print-out with the ranges and post on a new question members will comment and try to assist in some way.
Members who also have your condition will respond too.
I agree. Sounds very much like you have low thyroid, which can cause all the symptoms you are suffering.
Polymyalgia isn't a disease, it's a syndrome. I know that doesn't make it any less painful, but it does mean that something is causing it, and if that something can be found, then there's a chance of curing/improving it. Doctors only treat symptoms, they Don't look for the root cause.

This is primarily a thyroid support forum although members do have overlapping conditions, including polymyalgia. You may find better support on healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk and some of the other HU platforms healthunlocked.com/search/p...
I think you need to look at whether you have Hashimoto's or not and also, whether you are properly treated for low thyroid. You needs tests like free t4 and free t3, to know more. Pred. lowers your immune system, which is not a good thing. Your condition can be from low thyroid levels and autoimmune, either way, i just think you need to look at WHY this is happening, not pop pills for it. Just the way i think about this.
