Hello Helenback,

Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies?

The video tells you a lot about the destruction on the body caused by Hasimotos but don't forget all immune disease starts in the gut.

The Enteric nervous system, referred to as the second brain controls a number of neuro circuits controlling motor function. This is located in the gut and directly links to our brain (brain - gut axis) and is bio directional.

This means what we eat and our gut health has a direct bearing on our brains.

I have Hashi and have dizzy spells but I think a lot of others do to.

Thank you for replying Flower007 :)

Yes I had a private blood test earlier in the year which included thyroid antibodies, (I was only tested once by NHS when I got initial diagnosis)

Thyroid peroxidase was 179.62 IU/ml ref. range negative = < 50 and

TSH receptor antibodies 0.6 IU/ml range 0.0-0.4

This was the beginning of March.

Does this mean my antibodies are high?

Yes over range Helen indicating Hashimotos.

This is extremely prevalent in people suffering from Hypothyroidism and I have it myself.

Your aim would be to reduce the level but don't get hung up on tests. Just lead a healthy life style and ensure you have OPTIMAL vits and iron levels.

It is usual for the NHS to only conduct one antibody test as when you have an auto immune condition...you have it for life.

You will recognise when your levels are low because you FEEL better. High levels cause inflammation in the body which can create aches and pains and other disease.

Also address any gut issues. I now take Betaine, bile and digestive enzymes with every meal and probiotics acidophilus and saccharomyces boulardii.

If you suspect candida or gut dysbiosis it would be wise to do a private stool test...they can be quite revealing!!

I have had gut issues forever and for the first time my tummy is flat and feels great.

Doctors don't understand the brain-gut axis so no encouragement is given to support a healthy gut but with today's foods lacking somewhat, health can detioriate when thyroid issues are to be considered as well.

You may find a book called The Root Cause by Izabella Wentz to be quite insightful.

I've had benign positional vertigo before but know other non hypos who've had the same thing. Its a breakdown of cartilage in the part of the ear responsible for balance and can appear after a cold or flu.

I had the Epley manouvre but problem did not go straight away. Felt OK after about 10 days, had it in total for about 2 weeks.
