Hi I have just gone up from 75mg to 100mg of thyroxine 7 days ago, does anyone have any idea how long it will take to feel the benefits. I'm so very tired. Thanks

SuzyC, it takes 7-8 days to absorb the dose increase before you'll feel any improvement and up to six weeks to feel the full impact of the dose increase.

Thanks Clutter that's helpful, I'm feeling very tired still and very hot, I'm hoping this will improve.

It can take a few weeks to feel the effect, I'm afraid. It might be that you'll need further increases in dose yet. Did your GP ask you to go back for blood tests in 6 weeks?

I went up to 100mcg from 75mcg 3 1/2 weeks ago and am just starting to feel the benefit. I am not quite so tired, and the hairs are starting to grow back on my arms...OK I need a magnifying glass to see them, but they are there. :-D Good luck.

Thanks Leabrook yes this is the first increase since diagnosed 5 years ago following a throat op for benign tumours. I'm just finding the tiredness and hangover feeling a little hard to cope with. Does anyone know whether hypodroism is classed as a disability in the workplace?

Technically, yes. Under Section 6 (1) of the Equality Act 2010

A person (P) has a disability if—

(a) P has a physical or mental impairment, and

(b) the impairment has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on P's ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

It's getting the employer to acknowledge that your hypothyroidism is having that effect on you that's key, as once they do, they need to make reasonable adjustments for you to undertake your duties (like for example allowing you to work only day shifts rather than night shifts).

Some people with hypothyroidism take their thyroxine and feel fine of course, so there's a tendency not to recognise that it's not quite like that for everyone with hypothyroidism!

Worth a Google to see the cases posted on solicitor's websites about Employment Tribunals - try "Hypothyroidism and Equality Act 2010" for starters.
