Understanding deiodinases and conversion problems.

I came across this very insightful article in search of more information on my conversion of T4 to T3 and Mercury problems. I thought it would be helpful to share this article as there are many factors that can cause havoc with converting!

I now know yes, indeed my high level of Mercury is definitely not helping me to convert and is blocking my thyroid receptors etc. agh!!!

My hair is really growing back now thanks to Clutter and Greygoose!!

It has been a long road, but I know know I have Hashimotos, low stomach acid, a permeable gut, big conversion problem and now 217 Mercury level.

I know it all makes your brain hurt...but look at all that I was able to find out about myself! I had to study and study and continue to do so. It is a shame I I wasted 5 yrs in the hands of Drs.

Not once has a Dr or Endo ever mentioned these things to me nor even checked all of my minerals.

Yes, I wasted four years Enfrance.

Thank goodness we found our way even if there is still a long way to go.

Thank you for posting. I have book marked to read later.

Enfrance, are you feeling okay on the T3?

Yes, I feel fine thank you. I really don't feel very different only that it has been 2 days and at least no headaches.

The thing is I have a feeling, I will need more so as to drop the bloating and overall weight?

I swear I don't think I will ever feel heart palpitations? Not that I want to, but I would like to feel it working ...again less overall inflammation and more energy.

Enfrance, lack of palpitations isn't a sign of undermedication :-D It's best to stick with 50mcg for a couple of weeks before increasing and not to increase too much. The T3 will stimulate better T4 to T3 conversion as well as directly improving your FT3. it will take 6-8 weeks for your FT3 to improve and your metabolism to speed up but you don't want FT3 over shooting and causing hairloss.

Okay, I understand I have to slow again. :(

But of course, I will listen. Before you said I should slightly increase after 1 week by a quarter of a pill 6.25 that is if I can manage to cut it that small.

But now here you mention 2 weeks-could you please clarify?

I really, really am so grateful to have you!!!!

Thank you!!

Enfrance, 1 week is fine if you feel you need it.

The tablets are very easy to quarter with a pill cutter which you can get from most high street pharmacies.

I love this link Clutter. It explains everything so well.

It should be called "Understanding Thyroid Hormone Replacement for Dummies.

Flower, I agree, it's one of the most useful articles I've seen to demonstrate why dosing should be low and slow.
