Yes Marfit it's today's paper.

We are in the North so could be different.

I suppose if you give it to someone with a normal Thyroid it could give them a boost.

Not that I know lol

Thanks Pp......yes I have now read it and I feel that a whole minefield is about to blow up!!!

I,myself went on line looking for possible sources of T 3 within the EU as there is so much talk of buying it across the counter abroad without prescription. What I found was T3 and T4 being advertised slap bang in the middle of body building supplements ....which had me asking myself a few things ....... It all seemed a bit questionable including the fact of being posted in plain packaging.

So,am I surprised by today's article .......No ! It has maybe made me raise an eyebrow and ponder on a few of my thoughts..... We wait to see what develops!

The author of this article has zero understanding about thyroid treatment. She refers to "anti-thyroid drugs" then goes on to talk about T4 and T3 meds as if they are just two versions of the same thing.

Thanks for link.

O my golly gosh - what a mess. Lack of understanding at every step. Talk of treating while in "normal range" - obviously cheating!!!

Why mention brands Levoxyl and Cytomel? Were they getting special imports? And Levoxyl was off the market for about a year right in the time period being reported.

We see many claims that T3 levels drop under heavy exercise. What do serious sportspeople do much of the time?

A thousand times more complicated than the article allows.

So doctors can now suggest that patients are asking for thyroid medication not only to lose weight, but also to give them a better chance of winning their local over-50s tennis championship at their amateur club. Or actually being able to complete a round of golf.

Gosh, hyperthyroid athletes should have an enormous performance advantage if they dumped their Carbimazole. I wonder if insulin peps up diabetic athletes?

Wow humanbean it was a joke relating to the fact it does nothing for me and hubby entering me for the great north run .

Lynn Mynotts Q&A at the end of the article explains to all I think.

I can't see a link to Lynn Mynott's Q&A. :(

Perhaps it is only available on the paper version of the newspaper?

Perhaps so.

Lynn was questioned by thejournalist and explained everything about thyroid and meds.

The Q&A is blank for me, in Southern England. Invites a first comment.

All too often comments on the Mail seem to not work, to disappear, etc. I now cannot be bothered to post anything there.

The best newspaper for comments these days seems to be the Guardian.

The Guardian say no more.

Believe. me it is there.

Perhaps a look at Lynn's page will find it.

I have been trying to post without success.

I saw the programme and the emphasis was more on the use of steroids. There was someone prescribing thyroid meds when their levels were low - but then as we know too much exercise reduces T3. So a perfect excuse to prescribe - however they were kept within the ranges !!

We are obviously being treated by the wrong people! We should try sports coaches. Have to break the habit of a lifetime now and go back to read the Sports Pages!

Haha j_bee it's not something I make a habit of.

The fact that it's this guy Salazar who is in the news at the moment that made hubby point it out .

That and the fact that I'm struggling with my meds at minute .😕

I'm struggling too PP since the change from Goldshield Eltroxin about 5 years ago. Have not felt well since, but of course blood levels say I am though! Wish you well.

Good heavens j_bee , 5 years ,I hope it's not that long for me.

I started t3 a couple of weeks ago and you tend to think it's the Holy Grail after trying to get it so long. Lol

I wish you well .

If you got the paper version of this there was a great Q&A with Lyn Mynott, CEO of Thyroid UK!

For some reason this was missed off the online version. :(
