Breathless! Advice please.

Hello all. I wrote a while ago, asking if anyone else was breathless. It turns out, a lot of you are! It's taken me a long time to address the replies. We've moved house and lost a sick dog in the meantime.

So, some people suggested it can be a lack of certain vitamins. To cut a long story short, I made a note of the advice from different people, and went to my GP, asking for a complete thyroid test and also the vital vitamins. He agreed to do this and I'm going to give blood tomorrow. In the meantime however, he listened to my heart, (because of the breathlessness) and tells me I have an irregular heartbeat. This threw me somewhat. I've never been told that before. He seems to think the breathlessness is caused by this problem and not my thyroid. He's also requested an EKG. So....does anyone else have this problem? I still think the thyroid issue is the root of the problem, but any thoughts/advice would be welcome.

Hi miss Molly this is only from my own experience. before taking levothyroxine for su b clinical hypo I had what I termed as irregular heartbeats. Little runs of fast,a feeling of missed beats (ectopic) and palps. After started treatment those all went away almost totally,so it could be just related to thyroid for you too. If on the other hand he means AF,atrial fibrillation that is different. An ecg will hopefully help clarify if not make sure you get an echo scan just to be sure not heart related.

Yip. I had the same but more the irregular heart. Stopped once I reached a decent dose. It's returned again so I'm looking to up my dose.

Stress can flare the breathlessness up. Mine comes and goes. It did not change with getting my iron, D , b12, [ was high] or ferritin optimal in range either. Just a symptom of hypo or hashi's and inflammation. Mine seems to kick up when my stomach acts up with reflux, bloating or pain.
