Hi, I am new to the group. I have hashimotos for 18yrs, probably longer. I take synthroid 175mcg. I don't feel well a lot of issues. I joined to learn from people who have this also.

Welcome to the forum, Tdg3.

Plenty of Hashi members here trying to feel better too. Many find that a gluten-free diet can help reduce Hashi flares and antibodies but some find they have to go on to eliminate dairy and sugar too. 175mcg Synthroid is usually a TSH suppressive dose which is also helpful in dampening down Hashis.tm

Hypothyroid patients often have vitamin and mineral deficiencies and it can be helpful to have ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate tested as low levels/deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms.

I am seeing a hematologist for anemia. I tried to tell my dr that it was related to my hashis but she's like most drs here give you a pill and send you on your way. I'm trying to find a dr that will go beyond that. I do have the joint & muscle pain and am sure I'm d deficient. I would like to find a doctor that would prescribe NDT. I think all my dr tests is my tsh. I don't do dairy, am trying very hard to stay away from gluten but ok very weak with sugar.

Do try to remember to obtain all your test results so you can monitor your progress. It is your right to have them and useful for posting here when you need advice.

Docs are not able to offer much advice about auto-immune issues - so it is up to us to read and learn I am afraid. To the right of this page is a heading TOPICS and you will be able to find the heading for Hashimotos - click and you will see over a 1000 earlier posts on the topic :-)

You may also like to join the Pernicious Anaemia Forum - lots of us here are also on there as many of us have LOW B12/Anaemia when Hypo/Hyper....

Hope you soon feel stronger. It does take time - it probably took years for your condition to develop and it may take a long time to put things right :-) Take a look at my edited profile and you will see what I mean :-)

If it is pernicious anemia, it is another autoimmune disease. NDT made my Hashi's worse..it is not a magic pill for many.
