We really need to see your results with ranges before commenting/assisting in any helpful way....

Hi Mona

I think your GP started you on too low a dose of levothyroxine, usually it is 50mcg but some prescribe 25mcg if patient is frail or have heart problems.

They then increase by 25mcg around every 6 weeks till you (hopefully) feel much better. Your clinical symptoms are usual and uncomfortable till you get to a dose which helps you. Weight gain is a common question and should reduce if on optimum meds.

You take levothyroxine first thing with a glass of water and wait about an hour before eating, some foods interfere with the uptake. If you've not had a blood test for B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate recently make an appointment and have them with your next thyroid test. Always get copies of your blood tests with the ranges from now on from the surgery (we are entitled to them) for your own records and so that you can post them if you have a query.

When you have a thyroid gland blood test it should be as early as possible, not having taken levothyroxine before but take afterwards as it can skew results.
