Hi I'm newly diagnosed. I went to GP cod I was tired and had weight gain, also my hair was falling out. Anyway my TSH was 7.5 (don't know what the other levels were) and I had 'positive antibodies'?? Anyway started on 50mcg Levi for 6 weeks and now my TSH is 8. GP upped dose to 75mcg but I'm confused. Any ideas?

Your initial dose 50mcg was insufficient to replace your low thyroid hormone so your TSH continued to rise to prompt your thyroid gland to produce more. 75mcg should help but you may need another increase after your next blood test. Don't take your Levothyroxine on the morning of your blood draw as it can skew the results. Take it immediately after.
Take your Levothyroxine with a full glass of water on an empty stomach one hour before or two hours after food and drink, two hours away from other medication and supplements and four hours away from vitamin D3, calcium, iron and oestrogen.
Hi try and get your TSH, T4 and Free T3 results. On line if GP will not. There is a reliable finger prick test with Blue horizon, quote TUK 10 all DIY.You may find in time that you also need to take T3 with the Levo, depends on the results.
