I am coming around to realise that my thyroid issues are not going to just go away and I will have to keep up with the tests and info on medication and what not ...

It can be. Was for me for the first 12 years or so. I thought the synthetic t4 was a miracle pill. As often happens to others... it went horribly wrong, I stoped converting and it took several years to work to what to do. Am fine now but am havingto buy my own meds.

I now take Naturethroid or thiroyd... Both are dessicated pig thyroid the same as armour. I did take t3 only for some time and I took t3 and t4 and did fine with it, but I prefer the NDT.

xjjx, Once thyroid levels are stable people often do well for years with annual or biannual thyroid function tests. Changing health conditions with new medications introduced can upset things though and thyroid function may need to be monitored more frequently because of drug interactions.

Good that you attained that breakthrough. Our bodies have carefully monitored intricate systems. Metabolism could be likened to a car engine; all the parts have to be running for the car to go and any one of them can bring everything to a halt. Unfortunately, few doctors are capable of catching all the nuances of illness. You probably have more opportunity to do that yourself. I think the videos I've been posting bring this out very well.

I hear you xjjc! So many act like thyroid problems should be no big deal. In my case with Graves people say "Just take that radioactive pill and then just a pill a day for life no big deal!" They've got no idea

The whole damn thing is so complicated, I think I have adrenal issues too and my recent blood tests have shown thyroid not too bad BUT I think my main problem at the moment is with gluten. I couldn't understand why I was hypo but losing weight, I've lost a little over three stone in the last three years, and I now think the issue is gluten. Try adding in all the other stuff too and when you have brain fog ...
