I have been to see yet another Dr today to get to the root of what may have been plaguing me for the past few years. After going through the history and paying £93 for blood tests on top of an appointment for £140, I am advised that although the blood results come in 2 days, I wont be able to get the feedback on this til my next paid appointment. I am sooooo tired of all of this. All I want is to be well. I would mind less if I was just paying now for something that actually works. Instead I feel ripped off.
Sorry to sound off like this - so despondent at the moment.

Hi Sandra, So sorry you don't seem to be getting anywhere with doctors, and yes they appear to be just money-making these days. Those that are should be ashamed of themselves. If they don't know how to treat properly then at least they should honest about it! Thank goodness we have this site to find out more about our condition and have a little moan now and again. Someone is bound to come up with some sort of help and guidance and for free as well. Have you tried getting your bloods done with Blue Horizon? If you go through TUK you get a discount and results are sent to you as well as TUK very quickly without a doctor's fee. Wish you well.
No, I didnt get them done via blue Horizon. I suspect a hormone test to see levels might be useful. Can you direct me where to find this information so I can see the cost?
Hi Sandra, Clutter has very kindly given the link for Blue Horizon and they have a discount on at the moment, Blue Friday they are calling it, for tomorrow. And Genova Diagnostics is for the saliva cortisol test to see how Adrenal Glands are doing.
Sandra, if the doctor is saying you can't have your results unless/until you pay for another appointment make a 'subject access request' under the Data Protection Act which entitles patients to have their test results.
The 'trap' was once he has the results of the blood tests and if I manage to get a test for PCOS and CA125 then he can rule out these things being an issue he will have a clear picture of what is wrong.
Sandra, if you don't wish to see him again you are still entitled to your results as you may want to see someone else who can use them to form a diagnosis.
I know exactly how you feel, I wonder if it's the same doctor. This is the first time it's happened to me, the previous private doctors, and NHS endocrinologists, I've been to have all sent my results to me and one discussed them by phone without any charge.
Very similar to you, lots of tests to rule out things. I did pay but realise I could have arranged most of the tests myself and then sought advice here or in other places online. Will continue by PM.
HI For the future. Never have blood tests through a private hospital, expensive. Either ask consultant to do via GP or pay say Blue Horizon, their usual lab.Much cheaper.
Jackie, in the future it will take me months to save up again to see someone and also to trust people again let alone take new tests. My GP do not support anything I am doing to get my health restored which is why I had to go down the private route - perhaps you have been fortunate this area but that is not the case for many of us.
Jackie, I did research. There is little else other than that that I could have done. I was not prepared for this and neither do I think I should have been.
Completely understand how you feel. Is there any kind of regulation for private doctors? Do they need to belong to some sort of register? Is there a professional group for their speciality that they should belong to?
Is there anything on this doctor's website that refers to test results?
We have not yet processed the full results, which will be done when we see you in December, but the lab has highlighted that your T3 level has come back elevated.
This would suggest that you need to reduce the dose of your thyroid medication and I would recommend to reduce to 1 and a half grain a day until I see you in December.
What, they only process some of the results and the others will not be done until December - is this correct?

Is this right - they only get half the results and then the other half in December???
Hi Sandra - I was livid when I was told I would not get my urine test results from a private, so-called integrative health doctor in North London until my next appointment. I think it is money-grubbing to the max that the outcome of tests ordered during one paid appointment are withheld until the next one. This guy's secretary said this process was explained in their T's and C's that I signed at the outset. In the end, I paid 20 pounds for a 5-minute callback from the doctor. As usual, he said little of diagnostic use, suggesting another test to be ordered during my next appointment. Total cowboy. I have never gone back.
Too right. Thing is, even if you set aside the request for more £££, who would be cool to wait for their results, prolonging what for most of us is already a terribly long road to treatment.
