Feeling better

Hi all, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism on the 12th this month and have been on Carbimazole and beta blockers since. I have dropped to 2 beta blockers p/day from 3 but could probably manage on 1. I've been taking 20mg of Carbimazole p/day and am starting to notice improvements most days, although some days, especially mornings I still feel odd. When is a good time to retest levels once beginning treatment? Thanks.

I was first diagnosed as hyper 2 years ago I was having blood tests every 6 weeks. I had radio iodine treatment and became hypo. Now 2.5 years later I'm back to hyper!!

Hi,I had a blood test 2 weeks after starting on carb, then 4 weeks after that.Have you been referred to an Endocrinologist. ? Glad you are starting to feel better.

Have you got your antibody test results ?

Oh dear ifonly2014, you have really been through it! Do you have Hashimoto's?

p1pp1ins have phoned every day this week for my antibody results and they're still not in! I even had to persuade the phlebotomist that it was the antibody test I was there for when I went in to give the sample! Have an endo appointment on the 8th December and have made an appointment for more bloods on tue of my own accord as I don't want to be going too far into hypo, I have been freezing recently but it's also colder outside!

Yes always the danger of going hypo so regular blood tests, hopefully your antibody tests back soon, The one thing that stayed with me on carb was feeling hot and sweaty even when all the other symptoms imptoved but the Endo put that down to "my age"

The hot and sweaty episodes are awful p1pp1ns they can be quite alarming sometimes! And embarrassing! I was walking through town in a t-shirt in November, I'm sure you can relate :)

Will keep you updated with antibody results and thanks for replies!
