Hi Had appointment on Monday re concern about losing weight since last Blood Tests, and was told that my TSH was Normal ( a little high but said continue taking the Levothyroxine Sodium 100 mcg )... Since then ( and that was in May 2014 ) I have lost a Stone in weight ( 8st. 2 lb to just 7 stone ) plus I have been very fatigued and experience Burning Sensations from my knees down but my feet feel cold but not to touch. The Dr has reduced it to 75 mcg and all Blood Tests have been done this morning.
Does anyone else know anything about these Symptoms.
Hi shaws I don't see the Dr now till 11th November for results and see if I have gained any weight from lowering the dose, so I will ask him regarding the Vitamin B12...
Hi shaws have had B12 / Ferritin / Folate and all have come back Normal, had Fasting Bloods for Thyroid and all were Normal apart from one that was supposed to be 21 which is normal but mine was 28, the Dr said he was Overdosing me on 100 mcg and reduced it to 75 mcg.
My weight that had deteriorated from 8 stone to 7 stone, have not put any weight back on yet but it has only been 18 days since he altered the dose to 75.
I also take 5 mg Vascalpha Felodipine daily due to family history, but when I take this tablet an hour later than my Levothyroxine I tend to feel so unsteady, is there any reason for this.
Am seriously thinking of going Private for a proper full Thyroid Test to see if its normal or not to feel like this.
Never accept the word 'normal' when you have blood tests. If we are hypo and are 'normal' we should feel very well indeed with no clinical symptoms. The worst thing doctors can do is reduce your medication according to the TSH. Always get a print-out of your blood tests with the ranges and post on a new question for comments. Most of us feel well with a TSH 1 or below or even suppressed.
This is a good link and I think you will learn how we should be treated (1st and 2nd Questions in particular). Lots of other topics at the top of the page.
