Hi everyone,

I've just found this group, I've had a under active thyroid for the past 6 years and it seems to have got a lot worse since having my youngest daughter.

I just seem tired all the time and get very out of breathe when I'm walking, anyone else had these symptoms?

Thanks x

Welcome to the forum, Unimummy. Fatigue and breathlessness are symptoms of hypothyroidism and often of undermedication but can also be due to low iron, vitD, B12 and folate.

If you post your recent thyroid blood results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) and say what dose and medication you are taking members will advise whether you are optimally medicated.

Ask your GP to test ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate as hypothyroid patients are often deficient/low and these deficiencies can cause musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and low mood similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Post your results with the lab ref ranges in a new question and members will advise whether supplementation is required.

Thank you I don't have all those details I'm afraid all I know is I'm on 100mg of thyroxine a day, this was increased from 75mg a couple of months ago. X

You really do need to find out at least the results of your blood tests for us to be able to help you. You are absolutely entitled to these results and the NHS says so:

nhs.uk/chq/pages/1309.aspx?...

Out of breath can be thyroid, iron deficiency anaemia, low vitamin B12 or several other things.

Could you post a bit more - like when you had your youngest? It all helps to form a picture people can use to try to help you. Without the information, there is too much need to guess.

Unimummy, you should be due another thyroid blood test to check your levels now. Don't take your Levothyroxine until after your blood test. Ask your GP, GP receptionist or Practice Manager for your results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results). The results should be available a couple of days after your GP has reviewed them. Your practice may charge a nominal fee of £1/£2 to cover the cost of printer ink and paper but it shouldn't cost more.

I had more bloods done and now im back on 75 a day as my levels were too high.

Im still feeling out of breathe and so tired, also this last week my muscles are killing me, where i find it hard to get down the stairs in the morning and im also covered in bruises over my legs and arms not sure if thats related?

I will get all my full results when i see my GP on Thursday and post again.

I had my last child 2yrs ago

Thanks xx
