Hi there,

Interesting, although probably not all together unsurprising, results. I am so glad I have an amazing Macmillan nurse!

I agree about the importance of having access to counselling. I was never offered any from anyone at the hospital but I was signposted to local charities, some of which had a counselling service.

It would be nice to have counselling offered from the hospital at the point of diagnosis or at least get some encouragement to talk to your GP about accessing counselling.

It would also have been nice to just have the one op with frozen section being done to decide if a full TT was required, whilst you are under. My consultant, however, seemed to think the frozen sections weren't reliable enough. Looking at that article it looks like they definitely prefer the two surgery approach in the UK.

Thanks for posting it.

Melissa

I had a good Macmillan nurse too, Melissa but I didn't follow up after the initial consultation and would probably have refused counselling but I would have found it useful to speak with or email other thyCa patients.
