gluten free is def good thing for reducing inflamation....i noticed it the best around PMS time, some food would inflame me! like i have a fever, when i switched to higher fat , protein , less carbs....which was gluten free(becasue food that is gluten free had more fats/proteins , like flaxseed, fresh cow cheese, eggs...)......i did not have my hormones improved! on the contrary it seemes they got worse, but my overall sense of well being was better, i did not have synus inflamation anymore!, and PMS improved.....so gluten can cause inflamations in the body i think but small doses will do no harm.....

watch that if you go gluten free you dont end up eating corn only :) apparently corn not good substitute for gluten free......

it made me constantly hungry

so its ok to go gluten free when you know what will substitute becasue fasting is def not for hypo people...so from now on i will stick to my almost gluten free, i am not celiac...i hope/did not test/....but eating cakse when someone has birthday...or avoiding delicious food in fine restaurant :) i did not notice affects me, .......

other then that i di dnot notice that tiny amounts of gluten are harmful , nor that gluten free will improve thyroid hormons, it affected the sugar balance in blood, which is helpful! wheat is not good for sugar imbalances...nor rice! so i was avoiding rice too....

i really read a lot on this subject....i dont believe gluten does all this to our gut, i think it is demonized! becasue when i would eat pasta i was feeling good.....and

i read just recently in germany one doctor found out that its not gluten but ATI protein in wheat that is so very inflamatory ....and that it may be casue to such inflamations in everyone, that i was feeling around PMS times! it is very potent and very strong stuff, and is beeing found out recently in food, in recent years they put it to wheat....to protect from insects make it more resistent to molds etc....(so it depends a lot where you buy wheat seeds if old ancient, they dont have ATI, and ecological production is alowed to use any seeds they want! so you may end up eating exactly that ATI :) and you think you eat healthy stuff.....etc)

my thinking is food sensitivity is SYMPTOM! not the cause of our ilnessess, and the sicker you are less food you can eat....becasue those who claim gluten is bad will soon tell you diary too! soy is MUST AVOID for hashis, there is no doubt about it.....corn not good substitute, rice also not the best thing.......and EGGS! also one that not good, so you end up eating what? :).....just avoiding so much stuff can make you long term more sick and sensitive to the world around you....i am big advocate of diversification and changign food palette completely 4 times a year like summer/spring, &winter.....diversity is key to good health

on the other hand celiac patients have problem with iron absorption! :) i was gluten free since sept 2013....but i cheated just recently probably 3-4 times :) i did not feel it is necessary to stick to it 100%....will see in the future....maybe i will test for celiac....but i dont believe in gluten sensitivity!....it may be this ATI protein

Ivy, the point of the article is that if you do have gluten intolerance it isn't possible to be a little bit gluten-free. People who can eliminate and reintroduce gluten without ill effect aren't gluten intolerant although they may notice health benefits in avoiding it.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/232...

here is the research on ATI, this what they said gluten intolerance may be ATI and not gluten , so depends a lot on what sort of wheat seed you stumble on

yes i understand.....just not sure weather to believe it or not.... and somehow i can not imagine that wheat that has been used for centuries since ancient egypt, that made billions to survive....is doing so much ill effects...i even made my own sourdough bread :)......doctor Brian o Neill, who is expert on gluten says gluten is doing harmful things to intestine in every single person....i just not sure anymore about that

Thanks Clutter!

I was diagnosed with coeliac as an infant, then told I grew out of it. Pft!

Now I try to stick to sourdough, & alternative starches, in small doses.

I keep posting these, so hope nobody's bored with Chris Kresser's stuff yet!
