Ofcourse you can!! This is the "beauty of it!! At the age of 24 , am 37 now i was going through kind of hyper period!! I did gained weight, so this was sign of a hypo, but i could go on doing sports restlessly!!! I was sooo active, but at the same time hypothiroid......this comes from destruction of glandular tissue.....i was feeling slugish too, but i pushed myself for exercise and probably provoked faster destruction, since the body was young it could take it...only 8 years later it developed into serious issue, co plete shut down on energy, and having panick attacks 2 x daily, for 2 years .......i could not walk!at one point i was afraid to go out alone!! And for several years i always looked for a company!! I chnaged 180 degrees, like i was different personalyty and when i was 22 i could go on into the woods all day long alone, so this was not me!

At 37 you are still very young!!

I've had panic attacks on and of throughout adulthood, I accept that they will be triggered by system overload and something I'm prone to. Can go into agoraphobia. Also suffer with social anxiety on and off. I have always only been able to have a limited amount of 'socialising'

I never ever had anyything simmilar to panick attacks, first one i had my ferritin was 7, my iron was 3 min range 10, so it was logical i got panick attack when i had to faint! Was hot summer day.......

Since that day it just went on...it did not stop for several years!! Last 2 years was like hell, i was thinking i can not live like that....and i told nobody, i was calling home often saying i have a feelinglike someone shut me down and i will die......i was taking cab, to come home....presence of other people helped me ....so for several years i could not go anywhere alone, i was feeling so frustrated about myself.....and it went on like this for 5 years...now i get panick attack only in the car:-) so the last year and a half is much better, but i would be getting panick attacks after having strenous exercise( my doc told me i can do sports as a normal person!!! FALSE!)......and i started to believe it has to do with my psyche!! But now i know it has nothing to do with it! It comes from the body, and hormones, and metabolism.........

Until the age of 30 i did not know what panick attack is, or any other phobia.

Yes for a long time I've believed panic attacks and agoraphobia are physical (physically caused). Even back in the early 90s when I aas going to a group with other panic attack sufferers and agoraphobics there was a lot of research into the physical causes, balance, ears, eyes, organic brain dysfunction and so on. Exercise has given me them too but then I never was much of an exerciser.

Hey I hear you there. I am borderline hyper/hypo and I am a mess I feel like a pendulum swinging back and forth sometimes staying hypo for days or longer then a spurt of hyper and rare but has happened both at one time and WOW it is madness. I feel like I am going crazy . I am going through hell and still waiting forafter 8 months to have this taken care of. My Endo blows..lol :(

sorry about that menothyro. The change for me has been over a number of decades so whereas I used to be hyper now I'm more hypo. Good luck with getting it sorted

There is Hashimoto's which is a condition in which the antibodies attack the thyroid gland and you end of with hypothyroidism. If your doctor tests you for antibodies and they are positive he should prescribe levo to to to slow down the process but many don't know this and will prescribe only when your TSH reaches a certain level.

I thought you needed high TSH for it to be hashimotos. My TSH was pretty low (but within range) and my T3 very low (outside range) and T4 low (within range) so I am thinking it's the pituitary but am seeing my GP next week about it

This is an excerpt from the above link:-

While in the normal course of events the TSH normally rises in this situation, it may actually be normal, or even low. The reason for this is a down-grading of the hypothalamic/pituitary axis due to the state of hypo-metabolism that the low thyroid function induces. (This also applies to adrenal function, which it may be remembered, can also be damaged by autoimmune disease.)

My antibodies were also negative which is why I'm thinking pituitary. Thanks for the link

Interesting Mrs Somerset - others have suggested it's hashimotos but I don't think so in my case because my TSH is low and T3 and T4 so I'm thinking it's my pituitary

No I have low TSH within range and low T3 (out of range) and low T4 within range. I'm thinking it's a pituitary problem

also thyroid antibodies were negative

never been told I'm hyper or hypo, just starting to investigate now. But the hyper to hypo has been gradual over a lifetime, I'm in my fifties now
