I'm writing because I am out of ideas and looking for advice. For the past few years now I have been constantly dealing with fatigue, weakness, nausea, dizziness and a general sense of feeling unwell. More recently (past year or so) this has developed into constantly being thirsty, having shortness of breath, blurred vision, inability to concentrate and general aches.
I've been to the doctors so many times and I have yet to find out the problem. I've been told I'm stressed, depressed, accused of being anorexic, even pregnant. I am none of these things. Generally doctors have brushed me off as being underweight, tired and weak and just told me to get on with it. Today I was prescribed light recreation.
I'm so angry and tired of being tired and feeling this way. Some days I can't even think straight, my eyes are blurry and I feel so dizzy and confused. I feel nauseas after almost every meal. I've tried cutting out gluten and dairy and other foods thinking its allergies. I've tried running. I eat healthy but nothing works, vitamins don't help either.
Has anyone else suffered like this and been treated the same by doctors? Today I spent about 30 seconds in the doctors office, he was so indifferent to my symptoms after a blood test came back clear. He never told me what he tested me for or why he tested me. I even had to push to be tested in the first place. After the blood test I fainted and had extremely low blood pressure, but still no solution.
I just want to have energy and get on with my life! Thanks so much for reading, please share your similar symptoms and experience! Hope to hear from you x

I'm sorry your feeling this way. The first thing you need to do is to call your GP surgery and ask them to print off all of your blood test results over the last few months or so - everything.
Then come back here and tell everyone your results, make sure you include the result and also the reference range.
There are many very experienced and knowledgeable people on here who can help but first, they need to know what tests you have already had and what your results were.
Thank you so much for your advise! I have just requested a copy and will pick them up tomorrow and post the results, thanks again, I really appreciate your help.
Hello Kalmillar. As Clarity says you need a copy of your blood test results. Look to see if they have tested TSH, FT4 and FT3 (free T3), along with thyroid antibodies, Vit b12, Vit D, iron, folate and ferritin. Once you've seen the results you can ask for to test any that have been omitted.
With your symptoms I'd consider whether you might have adrenal problems. There's a good questionnaire here adrenalfatigue.org/take-the...
I'd also order the saliva cortisol test from Genova UK or Blue Horizon (I did just that), preferably before you start on any medication. The NHS won't offer you the test, you'll have to have it done privately.
Can you afford to see a private doctor? I can PM you info if you'd like.
Hello! Thank you for this info, it's very helpful. I scored quite high on the adrenal quiz, which is interesting. I'm getting my blood test results tomorrow and will look into what I was actually tested for!
I can afford a private doctor, I think! Do you have any more info on this? My experience with the NHS has been awful, I don't think I've ever not left a doctors office in tears since coming to the UK.
Hi Sandi, I will check my test results tomorrow. I agree, the symptoms sound a lot like hypoglycaemia. I'm annoyed I wasn't told what I was being tested for and I wasn't talked through my results, a horrible experience with a doctor who doesn't care.
I've been told by a few people to do an at home blood sugar monitor, I have one and will try this tonight.
Would l be interested to know how the home blood sugar monitor works I have often thought of getting one.
I have reactive hypoglycaemia diagnosed after a whole morning test at the hospital - forget the full name but you fast, they give you some horrid sweet stuff to drink then they test blood sugar every hour for about four/five hours. (The crazy thing is that if your blood sugar does drop they won't tell you there and then but they do send you straight home hypoglycaemic! Head to hospital cafe quick!!)
I'm not brilliant at dealing with it but I can tell now when it is that that is giving me problems and adjust accordingly - at least I think I can tell which is why I'd thought of getting a monitor to confirm.
As for docs they just do not get what it is like to feel ill and unable to do stuff EVERY day and I have no idea how we get that over..
Hello all! I have my test results from the doctors here. I have been back twice and advised by a very confused doctor to keep doing my glucose testing at home for another week and then to come in again for another appointment as I got a 2.7 mmol/L reading shortly before lunch and that is concerning.
Here are my blood test results from the doctors:
Plasma C reactive protein: <5mg/L
Thyroid TSH level: 2.58 mu/L
Serum free T4 level: 4.2 mmol/L
Fasting glucose: 4.2 mmol/L
Full blood count:
Haemoglobin estimation: 145 g/L
Total white cell: 7.0 10*9/L
Platelet count: 177 10*9/L
Red blood cell count: 4.46 10*12/L
Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) 94.4 fl
Mean copusc. haemoglobin 32.5 pg (this is above recommended 26-32 but also ignored by doctor)
Mean corpusc HB conc (MCHC) 344 g/L
Haematocrit 42.1%
Red blood cell distribution width: 12.6%
Neutrophil count: 4.0 10*9/L
Lymphocyte count: 2.2
Monocyte count: 0.5
Eosinophil count: 0.1
Basophil count 0.0
Sedimentation rate: 2 mm/H (this is low as the test days 3-12 is healthy, but this was ignored by doctor)
Blood pressure reading: 109/70 mmHg
HbA1c levl- IFCC standardised 31 mmol/mol
I don't know how accurate these are at finding possible causes of my symptoms (Adrenal fatigue for example) as I am suffering from Hypoglycaemic episodes and getting low numbers frequently, so a random 4.2 mmol/L fasting test doesn't seem accurate as I got a 3.4 mmol/L reading at home a few days later!
Please let me know your thoughts everyone, and thank you so much for your help!
Did you get any helpful advice? I too am suffering from similar symptoms & trying everything. Blood count good except WBC are 3.2 when range is 3.7-11 but think I just fall below. Can you help? So confused & tired. Thanks!!
Let me know if you find anything out I have been dealing with the same symptoms and getting the run around from the doctors for over a year.......I am currently 2 months pregnant and symptoms have only gotten worse! Would love and advice or insight
I have been having the same symptoms for about 6 months now, and they're progressively getting worse. It's so frustrating to not be able to play with my 2-year old son outside, and I'm lucky if I can get through work (I am a housecleaner as well as a nanny). Also not being able to eat much at all without getting sick, and seeing myself get skinnier and skinnier is frightening.
My symptoms: excessive thirst, dizziness/feeling faint, nausea, abdominal cramping, headaches, blurry vision, complete exhaustion, dry skin and hair, bad balance, lower back pain, feeling feverish, or fever chills, shortness of breath, muscle pain, bloating.
I did like you did and assumed it was food sensitivies. I kept cutting out more and more food groups, and then went on a detox diet altogether with only meats, fruits and veggies. It helps, but I seem to experience symptoms less frequently on it. I've seen 2 different obgyns, an endocrynologist, and a gastroenterologist, I got a full thyroid panel done, endless labwork, and an endoscopy. The bottom line? Everything's fine. I'm slightly anemic and slightly low in vitamin D, slightly low blood pressure, but that's it. At this point my gastroenterologist isn't taking me seriously anymore, thinks my symptoms are made-up and the underlying cause is my depression, which is MILD, and would certainly get better if I could live life like a normal person! I had to get a new obgyn because my first one wouldn't even treat me, just kept telling me to take birth control even though I'm not sexually active. So YES, it is so so frustrating being ignored by doctors, who treat you as if you're either exaggerating your symptoms or they're not real and you're delusional, and you couldn't think of a better way to spend your time than to drive around to doctors appointments constantly!
If you find anything out from those egghead doctors, let me know! Also let me know how you're getting along.
I know this is an old post but I had similar situation. After years of suffering, I finally found out that it was silent migraines. I never realised you could have a migraine without a headache until at some point I started getting the rare side effect of seeing auras sometimes. I don't get the auras very often anymore though. It might be something you guys could consider.
I have experienced blurry vision and pressure in my head constantly for nearly 2 years now. Other symptoms as well, feeling off balance, burning in my stomach constant and blood feeling hot under skin. Got loads of blood tests done and was told on paper everything is fine. I had an MRI last Tuesday so waiting to hear back from that. I am 27 years old and I spend most days in my bed now because of this.
I know this is an old post but I'm really desperate. Has anybody found any answers? My boyfriend suffers from the exact same thing and we have yet to find any answers from the doctor!
I have these symptoms too - except for low blood pressure. A simple blood test for calcium level (mines high) and parathyroid hormone (PTH) (mines high) indicated that I have primary hyperparathyroidism. My thyroid is fine. A parathyroid adenoma causes hypercalcemia which causes the rest of the symptoms.
Are you on meds? Did you get better? I’m on the same boat, I got t3 and t4 normal levels but still feeling nauseous and tired don’t know what else to do.
