Reducing or stopping Carbimazole . Can I expect any new symptoms or reactions. I am feeling really unwell at the moment. Ache everywhere.

I have Parkinsons and I suspect some rheumatoid arthritis as I have very painful bones in wrist and thumb joint and fingers a bit deformed. All the doctors ignore that and yet there are times when I cannot use my hand at all because of pain. I have to wear a splint.

I had problems with my immune system years ago.

Now I'm told I can stop my Carbimazol, or carry on the 5mg daily. Shall I wait for my blood result to arrive then decide? Just don't want to feel anymore unwell at present.

Could do with some thoughts. :-(

Carry on with 5mg Carb and post your blood result with lab ref ranges and we'll help you decide :)

Do you know what your ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate levels are? Deficient and low levels can cause considerable joint pain and make one feel extremely unwell and you've got a lot going on with you.

At present I have problems with just one thumb joint, and that's enough, so I feel for you Cicely46.

I think it would make sense to measure the present situation and then if you decide to stop the Carb you can monitor any changes in how you feel and symptoms, plus what's happening with bloods. That seems a bit more planned and a bit less 'comme ci comme ca' than the GP's approach.

Thank you for replies. Hopefully blood results will arrive in next couple of days, I rang Endo's secretary yesterday. I just seem to have gone downhill since being diagnosed November. I did ask about tremors which have started in my left hand now, whether it might be my thyroid, Endo just said no. So that upset me a little thinking the Parkinsons is worsening.

Well, I've had tremors in my hands for about three years now, as do many others who are hypo.
