I thought he might give me a lecture. I waited while he looked at my notes then told him. I told him I had a blood test about a week later. He said, I would have told you to reduce it anyway.. I was surprised. He then questioned me about not going for a nuclear imaging scan. I told him I had already had 2 scans on my kidneys because one went wrong.
So I got a lecture about the Radio Activity being so small there was no risk.
I was then told if 1 want to stop the Carbimazole I could, it's up to me. Or I can keep taking it? Mystified. Was he annoyed or serious?
I asked would my Thyroid get better. He said no.
I shall send for my last blood results from a month ago or try and ask my GP tomorrow if she can print them off.
So since November when I was diagnosed Hyper and told to take 20mg I am now told I can stop. It's up to me. Can't get my head round it.
Seems a bit weird, they usually like you to be on them at least 18 months, even if your maintenance dose is quite small. Have you had your antibodies tested to ascertain if it's Graves?
Thank you for replying. No I haven't had antibodies checked.
I am very surprised. He seemed quiet friendly. Had the longest conversation with him so far. Possibly as my granddaughter was with me..
My eyes look and feel fine. I don't feel well but half the time I don't know if it's my Parkinsons. Or immune system.
I did have an immune problem some years ago, it lasted for over a year. I was treated by a naturopath in the end as the doctors kept giving me antibiotics which of course made me worse.

You definitely need copies of all your results, I'm really surprised he hasn't done antibody tests. Have you had all your vits and mins checked? B12, folate, ferritin, vit D for starters. You really have very little information to go on at the moment, you can't really help yourself get better if you don't know what's going on.
Since you mention you have Parkinsons I'm going to give you a B12 link, as they can have similar symptoms. This is the symptom list:
It's must be so difficult when you have multiple problems. Did anyone mention Graves disease? I'll post an article. I'll just say it is possible to go into remission.
Hi again, just wanted to say that x-rays are cumulative so whether small or not, it adds up. Even the dentist should protect your thyroid when taking dental x-rays.
I asked mine about this after thyCa. He said regulatory advice changes all the time about protection from x-rays for patients and staff but latest generation x-rays hardly emit anything and even the staff have been told they can dispense with protective aprons.
I did wonder about mine to be honest. I also ended up in A&E with a very swollen arm from the dye. I wasn't happy when I had to go through it all again being claustrophobic.
