Couldn't find one close by from thyroid.uk list. Maybe someone has come across a good doctor who listens and helps around here? Otherwise I probably will travel to see dr Peatfield but that's a bit complicated for me especially if I have to do it regularly... Thanks!
Can anyone recommend a doctor in Hertfordshire ... - Thyroid UK
Can anyone recommend a doctor in Hertfordshire region?
I'm sorry there isn't a doctor near you but just to say that Dr Peatfield cannot prescribe medication.
I'm in Herts and have seen dr p. You could try get a referral to dr s Chelsea Westminster. He's very nice and his team. I think there is another dr in Hendon too. Message me if you want details of dr s.
thanks,I actually have appointment for Dr Chapman (Hendon) in about 3 weeks, but I'm still thinking whether to see Dr P instead..... I wonder if anyone here has experience with Dr Chapman? I bet the doctor in Westminster is very costly, I've seen in London they change double just for first appointment?
I've heard dr chapman is good. Chelwest is NHS so you don't pay at all. However they are still constrained somewhat by NHS guidelines. Only thing I can tell you is they aren't afraid of you taking armour n t3 though they can't prescribe armour via NHS. They were extremely helpful and are doing loads of tests for me... X
Oh good, I could try asking my GP about a referral to him.... But he can prescribe armour so you can buy it? does he also check adrenals and other issues besides thyroid tests? could you send me the details please, thank you x
Well you don't need a prescription if you are buying from abroad. You do need to understand your condition though, and how to monitor it.what problems are you having and what is currently being done about them?
Yes I definitely want to be monitored by a doctor and get a proper diagnosis first. nothing is currently done, my problems are in this post, a bit long though healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
I'm also in herts and go to Dr C in hendon, it so only about half an hour away.
oh great, I was just asking if anyone knew about him would you recommend him, have you got help from him?
Hi piret, I had the same problem I am also in hertfordshire and my gp would not refer out of area, or said he was not allowed too! So I see dr chapman for my adrenals and thyroid and he is great understanding and very knowledgable, I also have fibro, and he is very knowledgable about this also but I do all my pain med's through my gp as he won't refer me for that either until we have tried most types of medication x x
Dr Felicity Kaplan is very good she at Lister Hospital at Stevenage, but she has private work at Pinehill hospital in Hitchin
I was actually under her care when I was diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis, but as soon as my TSH levelled out I was discharged and never asked to go back.....
Ladies if your in Herts I run a support group on Facebook thyroid and autoimmune support Herts if you want to join....we have knowledge sharing and a few fed on where to buy armour t3 etc.
I am in Hertfordshire I would be interested in joining your support group for thyroid and autoimmune probs, could you PM me
We're here > facebook.com/groups/Thyroid...
Hi, I realise this post is 2 years old but just wondered if you're still running your support group? I live in Bedfordshire just near Biggleswade and have thyroid issues and GP not playing ball at all. At the moment I have actually purchased T3 but not started taking it yet. Am in another FB group with some very supportive people, but would be interested in joining yours.
Many thanks
Hi Georgina, we made the group private/secret as we were getting all sorts of people joining and being distruptive! I can invite you if you send me your FB profile link.
I'd definitely recommend Dr Shotliff at Chelsea and Westminster who deals with T3 and Armour.
I'd also recommend joining Thyroid Patient Advocacy if you arent a member already as they are extremely helpful and patient led.
Joanna
Hi Joanna, thanks so much for replying I had seen details of Dr Shotliffe, so thats helpful to know. here's my FB profile link. I am also a member of TPA. Did you know Sheila had a stroke recently? Thats very sad, but sounds like she's recovering Georgina
