I have had an infection in my finger which caused swelling in my joints. Has anyone experienced this? I have Hashimotos for 9 years.

I take levothyroxine 75mg and have a host of other health issues, which include - fibromyalgia, asthma osteoarthritis particularly knees. I recently got a burn on my finger which got infected & the doctor gave me antibiotics (clarithromycin) I began to feel swelling in my knees & they were on fire for two days, it felt like I could hardly walk as the aching in my legs made me feel ill & weak. Slowly over the following week it has improved. I am on last day of tablets. Has this happened to anyone? It has happened before when I have had an infection but never this bad (I am 53 female)

Hi,

I am sorry you are having additional health issues at present. Some anti-biotics may affect how levo works although I cannot find an issue with yours but it could still be possible. Also supplements etc should be taken 4 hours apart from levo.

Is it possible for you to get a copy of your latest thyroid gland blood test results, with the ranges, and post for members to comment on them. Always get copies of your blood tests for your own records.

I am not medically qualified but wonder if you are on enough medication.

Personally, I would include any medication but I do this for any vitamins/minerals, iron, etc.
