I'm just wondering what peoples experience has been with adding a little T4 back in after being on T3 only for 10 months? What should I watch out for etc? I've just started adding in some ndt for my evening dose, instead of my usual T3.
Cheers

For me it was a relief to add some T4 back in, as I felt poorly without it. The main experience was greatly improved sleep quantity and quality. Good luck
Hi sporty, I didn't like the first time I took one grain Armour after being on T3 only for several months. It just didn't feel right but I have a whole bottle and didn't really want to waste them so now, every once in a while I will take one but don't notice any real difference. The T3 is equivalent to the T3 in the NDT so the dose is the same.
Hi, yeah it think I'm finding the same thing. I've taken about 5 grains now but no difference. I think I'll skip a few days now before I try any more.....
I guess it would depend on why you'd gone T3 only in the first place, and whether you have any residual thyroid function or have had a TT. Also, if you've got access to NDT as well, why would you want you want to go back to T4, other than on cost grounds? It would be helpful to know. Having said that, I tried reintroducing some T4 after 4 months on T3 only - ( I'm TT, take 80mcg T3) just 25mcg of Levo brought all the crap symptoms right back and I felt I'd set myself back a couple of months. So I'd say watch out, and if you feel the need to split doses on T3 it's possible you may still be undermedicated - I've found that the closer I get to a euthyroid state on T3, the less I feel the need to 'top it up', or feel a 'surge' when I take it. I used to feel that, and I think it was an indication that I wasn't taking enough.
Well it was just a thought really. I'm not going to take T4 only, I'm talking about adding in some ndt. I think I read somewhere that we really need some T4. Dunno, I just thought I'd try it and see if I felt any better.....
On T3 only my GP wanted me to take some T4 (no idea why), but I felt rotten with only a small amount of T4 so don't bother now - on 120mcg T3 and fine.
