It really is incredible what patients have to put up with due to the guidelines and poor training of endocrinologists and doctors regarding what should be a relatively easy diagnosis, if the patient is listened too, a history taken and a knowledge of the clinical symptoms. Not using the TSH as a diagnosis and dismissing symptoms and prescribing other alternatives if levothyroxine is not making the patient well.

Lorraine's endo and surgery were paid for privately. She has said elsewhere that she assumes her endo treated his NHS patients just as badly. Her poor treatment has led to other ongoing conditions, hypoparathyroidism, low stomach acid, B12 deficiency and neuropathy, kidney stones. It's tragic that poor treatment compounded with unsuitable medication should lead to such poor outcomes.

She had good support from her NHS GP within the constraints of the BTA guidelines.
