12 hours later!

Has anyone noticed about 12 hours after they've taken their thyroxine they feel off? I have been taking mine at bedtime (11pm) by 11am the next day I have felt dreadful; anxious, dizzy, exhausted. Today I decided to go back to morning dosing, took it at 6am and about an hour ago I started to feel all of the above!

Any thoughts? X

You may need to be on a higher dose. See your GP and ask for a new blood test as you run out of steam very quickly.

Thanks Shaws I am waiting for my GP to up my dose as my TSH 11.2 about 3 weeks ago but he wanted to wait until I have had my T3 tested (hopefully tomorrow) first to see if I'm struggling to convert. Currently taking 100mcg

I always thought that inability to convert or poor conversion showed as high, possibly over range T4 and low TSH. What was your T4 result? Like Shaws, I feel you just need a higher dose. Will be interesting to know what your T3 is. Do let us know when you have it.

I've got suppressed TSH and FT4 at very top of range and FT3 in middle. I have suspected I may not be converting but have started on supplements and feel much better so do you think it a conversion issue or cells not absorbing? Would welcome your thoughts as all the medics want me to do is cut down Levo. Currently on 100/125

If you are feeling better through supplements I don't suppose it matters which it is but maybe it is both. I certainly would refuse to cut down on Levo and I would ask to have another blood test done, including T3, before even considering it. With any luck, it will all have evened itself out and you can stay on the same dose.

Thank you for your thoughts. My GP suddenly decided she would like my TSH to be measurable so asked me to stop supplementing but carry on with usual dose of Levo. Still trying to work out what she is thinking about! If anything I thought the logical way forward is to keep up the seemingly helpful supplements and then see if I can tolerate a very slight reduction in T4. I'm not sure whether that would work but its more logical than her suggestion.

Gosh, your gp sounds on the ball. Good luck!

You need enough T4 to convert to T3 in the first place so an increase in meds would help!

Sounds as if your dosage is not quite right. takes a while of going back and too for blood tests to get it stable, I got the dizziness etc you describe currently on 125mcg Levo., and I seem to be OK but it is definitely different for everybody.
