I haven't personally but a friend developed Sweets after being prescribed voltarin for a bad back. The meds also caused her Chrones disease to flare. It eventually resolved with very high doses of immunosuppressants including cortisone and another drug normally given to transplant recipients.
She was in a really bad way, terrible pain......I really feel for you.
So it seems Sweets belongs with the countless other autoimmune diseases out there. Best wishes for a full recovery.
Jayne.
I was recently diagnosed with Sweet's and it was due to Voltaren. I was on various slow release anti-inflammatories last year due to a form of arthritis but had side effects or allergies to all of them. This year I thought I would try the basic over the counter Voltaren and it appears this tipped me over the edge. Am still tapering with the prednisone, which has the happy side effect of knocking the arthritis on the head, so hopefully this will be the only time the Sweet's makes an appearance!
Thanks Jayne. I didn't have the worst rash but still very unsightly, not to mention insanely itchy! It was a bit of a worry at first as it can be an early indicator of leukaemia, which my dad passed away from and a first cousin has survived, but as I was completely well and blood counts normal, we went with an allergy and that was the obvious one. Love your photo of the laughing dogs.
