I have been ill for 25 years, 17 of those all medics said there was nothing wrong. Eventually i was diagnosed with C.F.S. Still no help, even from specialist. Last year I found Dr. Skinner, he put me on Levo, I gradually increased to 200 mcgs per day. All my muscle pain had vanished.
He was just about to change me on to Armour when sadly he passed away. My G.P. tells me he cannot prescribe Armour( not allowed by authority). He cannot prescribe Levo because my bloods are (normal). I am having to buy Armour privately, not knowing the quality of , and guessing the amount. Can any one give me some advice. Thanks

Start by asking your GP to print out historic thyroid results - from before you saw Dr S. Then compare them with your current results. Then ask him to explain why, with a demonstrable change in results and in symptoms, he cannot prescribe. I thought a GPs job was to improve their patients' health. I realise that is an innocent/ignorant/misguided/just-plain-wrong view.
thanks, rosetrees- I have tried this to no avail. I even suggested that i buy levo privately for three months and if the results were good, could he then prescribe- he refused.
