I also get a burning sensation and very tender scalp. All this is on the side where my thyroid is very tender

Not sure if it is any help but I had a lot of facial pain before I was found to have Graves but that is overactive rather than underactive.

I had constant face and eye pain from sinus infections and often had a pain right down the left side of my face I was put on steroids while they tested for temporal arteritis at one point, fortunately it wasn't that.

I had toothache all the time and shuttled back and forward between my GP and my dentist (who could never see any reason for my teeth to hurt - I knew it wasn't my teeth anyway) kept getting earache on that side of my face too. My scalp also felt ultra sensitive.

Once I was diagnosed as being hyperactive with Graves and treated all that went away.

Thanks for your response. Those are exactly my symptoms. I have had an MRI and CT scan and ultrasound on my neck, so know there is nothing sinister underlying. I was put on epilepsy medication for it, but that made me feel even worse. I am off for a blood test today to see about my thyroid levels so will see.

Glad you know it is nothing sinister, that is a relief but it is very strange how something like your thyroid can cause face pain etc but since being diagnosed and treated my sinus / toothache / face pain / sensitive scalp / ear problems and other weird facial symptoms have all gone so there must be some sort of connection.

You have described my symptoms exactly!  I've tried heat, ice, anti-inflammatories, PT, lidocaine, and chiropractic but no relief.  My thyroid is normal so far, so I wonder what else it could be.
