It sounds like you are hypothyroid if your t4 is low. You might have a hard time convincing your doctor to treat though.

If your MCV is low you could also have iron deficiency. It would be wise to get serum iron and ferritin checked. If your ferritin is below 70 you probably need to supplement with iron.

Folate or b12 imbalance can also affect the MCV so this is worth getting checked too.

Good iron and b vitamin levels are needed for your body to use thyroid hormones properly. You may find on getting the above sorted our that your thyroid function normalises. If it doesn't, hopefully your TSH will rise enough that you can get treatment.

I hope that helps a little but it would be easier to help if you have your actual thyroid results with reference ranges and any other test results that you have.

I hope you find a solution soon so you can feel better.

Thanks. How do I attach a photo of my blood results?

You can only attach to an original post or question. There should be an option to attach a photo. It might be best to create a new post asking for people opinions on the results then you will be able to attach the photo :)

Hi I agree but also make sure you have a Free T3 test too, this may show how bad it really is.I suspect FT3 is very low, this especially causes weight problems.

Thanks. Seeing Dr Shern Chew at The London Clinic tomorrow. I will take my medical info with me and ask for T3, ferritin etc test.

GP has prescribed 25 micrograms of Levothyroxine daily.

Update: Professor Chew suspects Hashimoto's disease. Blood tests and scans (pituitary and thyroid) booked for Friday.

T4 low. TSH low: could be due to anti-depressants.

Feel v relieved that finally a health professional understands how rubbish I feel. He gave me hope that something can be done and I will feel loads better in a matter of weeks.
