After my bad appointment with the endo. registrar I complained. The registrar told me to reduce meds. she was very abrupt and said all my symptoms were not thyroid related. I reduced the meds and was ill.
So I asked for an appointment with the consultant (who as yet I have never seen.) I've got one in January. I could not go on with reduced meds and explained this to the nice receptionist who got the endo. nurse to ring me. The nurse got new bloods done including T3 and today has rang me back with the results and told me to stay on the dose I was on in the first place.
I still have my appointment with the consultant to look forward to and I shall inform him how badly the registrar appointment went.
It was worth complaining and I didn't have a hissy fit. We shall see what happens in January.x

Yes Muffy,to think if I didn't complain,I could ave been on the lower dose for six months, feeling ill. The bad attitude of these unqualified,(the are only there for a year as part of their training,) registrars is awful. I shall tell the consultant in January. This is the second "little god" I have seen, they need bringing down a peg or two.x
The consultant might like to tell his registrars that if they genuinely believe a patient's symptoms are not thyroid related it behoves them, as doctors, to tell you what they do think they are related to and to offer you the correct tests. Most, of course, would be able to do neither.
Well said rosetrees, I could have kicked myself last week for not saying that when my endo said tiredness was nothing to do with my thyroid. In future I will always be ready with ' what do you think is causing it then?
I would not have held my temper either!! NEVER let your doctor reduce your meds based on blood tests alone, they will rarely raise the meds if you need it. Go on your symptoms not the blood results, you are not a number you are a person and as such the numbers mean nothing!! Everyone is different and the 'standards' or 'reference ranges' do not apply to everyone. My sister has an immediate reaction in blood results whereas mine never fluctuate no matter how I feel!!
Hi Glynisrose, I don't think I had much choice as to my temper as by the time of my "consultation" everyone else had gone home. It took a week to get a response from the hospital. Phone calls and emails did nothing. Thankfully the receptionist who started the ball rolling,by making my next appointment (with the consultant,) and told the endo. nurse of my concerns, was understanding. The nurse took over and has been most helpful.Seems it is only the jumped up registrars who are the rotten apples in this barrel. I shall point this out to the Consultant in January. They are giving my hospital a very image.Good job we know more than Them.x
