Had my first appointment with Dr.P. this morning and was advised to take Nutri adrenal extra, however he said i could take adrenal dynamite because i have problems swallowing pills.I was wondering if anyone had taken either of these and in particular adrenal dynamite and where did you purchase it.
Adrenal exhaustion: Had my first appointment with... - Thyroid UK
Adrenal exhaustion
Can I ask who Dr P is - I have adrenal insufficiency for which I take hydrocortisone to replace the missing steroid.
I'm guessing that Dr P is Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield. He wrote a brilliant book called "Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy: The Great Thyroid Scandal and How to Survive it". If you haven't read it you really should - it is well worth it for anyone with thyroid problems, particularly underactive thyroid.
Hes a nutritionist now used to be a doctor. He has an interest in thyroid and adrenal probs. I know he has clinics in different parts of the country. I went to his clinic nr, Keighley in Yorkshire. If you put his name in google his details will come up. Im not sure if i can pass telephone numbers on here. Maybe someone will tell me.
Have a look on ebay or ask jeeves. I have always wondered if I have some sort of adrenal failure.......but can I get my consultant to test me 'no'. Jillymo
You can always try a supplement yourself, and see if you feel better. You can get them off scrip. I get mine from Amazon: amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00.... There's been quite a bit on the forum about Coconut oil recently, and I'm finding my first pot of tabs are making a difference (to what? not sure yet!). I also take B12, in its turn. I try not to take more than two supplements at a time, otherwise I have no hope of telling what's doing good and what isn't. I get most things from Amazon, except the most recent B12 which I got from Holland & Barrett on their 'get a second bottle for a penny' thing.
I hope this post doesn't transgress the recent administrators' posting. I'm sure you'll pull it if it does. :o)
Your right i think we do have to be proactive and find what works best for you. Going to try nutri adrenal extra and see if i start to feel any better.
If you go to Amazon via the TUK link, you can help TUK funds which in turn helps others too.
I was going to post that maybe this should be renamed Adrenal Triggered Exhaustion [ATE]- as the medics know the adrenal's not a muscle to tire out -and get shirty on their high ground.
Dr P - I believe he has made a huge difference to many of us roidies for many years (most are probably no longer on this site - as they've got better!) yet he is still working & has clinics around the UK to help us (he's understandably Very busy 'tho). IMHO reading his book - Your Thyroid and how to keep it healthy was a real eye-opener for me (and humorous too). I really should make an appointment & get myself sorted! - this is not an advert just posting info out of respect. Jane
The book is 23rd on the TUK lending list here (or you can buy it thro' TUK too)
thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/suppor...
and here's his (laid back) video on 'Web of stories' (which includes other ones by TUK patrons and sufferers).

Well worth a visit to see him in my opinion, he listened to what i had to say and drew up a simple plan to follow, plus you can write to him with any additional queries at no extra charge.
I also read his book which was very informative...
I know, I know! I'm still trying the NHS route - 3 GPs so far telling me I'm 'depressed' have ADs, or CFS/ME (no treatment) anything but addressing the fact my half a thyroid can't cope! How much is a consultation, may I ask? I'm sure you'll get better soon Yorkshire! J x
£175.00 but didnt feel rushed and could explain everything fully. Like you i was given M.E. and F.M. diagnosis all too conveinient as they cant do anything. Yes i hope i do get better but along way to go. A friend of mine told me she had sen Dr.P last year and i kept putting it off....didnt have alot of spare money but then i thought other things will have to wait..glad i did.
Thankyou, I do the books at home and at work (numbers I can do, but only with a calculator now!) - but at the end of the day how much is health worth?
I'm trying to sort everything I can first, like vitamins/minerals (and tests prove low on these) then plan B! (or P) take care sweetie J x
I seem to be able to spend money on others more easily than on myself... look after you for once as the advert says your worth it..take care
