i was just the same and could not take them at allthe consultant wasn't very happy but I told him that I could take them if I lay on the sofa all day watching TV , but that I would rather do without them and be a useful working member of the community. He didn't have a reply to that, but it didn't look good that I was in so much pain but wasn't taking anything for it when it came to my DLA claim. The Pain Clinic have now put me on 50mgs tramadol to be titrated upwards to 100mg twice a day.I am really struggling as they make me feel so very sick even with chemo strength anti-sickness pills to counteract the side effects. I am on Citalopram for depression and anxiety (20mg), but I had to start on 10mg as I am side effect sensitive. Good luck and I hope you find something that really suits you.

I was given Tramadol after a liver biopsy but never took any as both my GP and my sister who is a hospital pharmacist said stay well clear of them because of the side effects. I needed no more persuading, I happily put up with the pain instead !
