Almost disappointed ready to give up. free T4 ... - Thyroid UK
Almost disappointed ready to give up. free T4 15.0 and TSH 6.79. Got free t3 done privately and results are 6.3. No idea where to go
Hello Jose24. I feel your pain.............but don't give up! I have been seeing Dr Peatfield and would recommend him to anyone in this situation. My experience has been that he can unravel all the test results and symptoms, provide an explanation and then give you a way forward. Sending you love and good health x
hi jose i just wanted to to say hang on in there its so hard i know but you will get better and get there, there is some good books out there like chooselife said than can help support you and help you understand whats going on and a idea where you need to be as far as i know i found out on my own thyroid journey your tsh needs to at the lower end below 1 yours look quite high i was really ill a few months back and i felt dreadful when my tsh was high mine was 9.5 so i know how horrible it is and the tiredness is horrid and how it makes you feel like giving up im living proof that it does get better than rock bottom im not there yet its early days but in a better place you just got to try and stay postive as you can! it just takes time and getting on a right dose and your levels right i really hope you feel better soon
take care

jose, This series of videos explains the 22 reasons that people still have symptoms no matter whether their test results reveal. This is #1 but he explains the antibody problems, progesterone deficiency in #11, deficiency co factors, cortisol problems #5 and many others. They make a lot of sense from a functional medicine perspective.
Hi Jose
1st step - Please confirm if you are on treatment?

Hi I'm on 325mg thyroxine. Thanks for replays guys.
I don't know if you are being treated by an Endocrinologist. If so, could he not add some T3 to your T4. You may even need T3 only to make you feel better.
The t3 could all be reverse t3 so you are hypo despite the good results. Suggest you get a free t3 and a reverse t3 test done so you can check ratios.... If t4 doesn't work, don't just let them give you more!
Hi Have you had al the other tests? It may be diabetes, autoimmune, hormonal, similar symptoms to start with, Hb1Ac test.? When I was overdosed by a private doctor, when I eventually had tests, over range. I felt very i symptoms were identical to Hypo, which can happen, with Hyper. I did not believe my new Endo, but after 1 year on a much lower dose, I was stable, and have been ever since.
My advice would be to find a good Endo and make sure they do the other tests you need too. If good, they should
Best wishes,
Jackie
The whole series points out that Hashimoto's (if that's what you have but you haven't given much info) is an autoimmune condition and these different antibodies, depending which you have may point to the underlying problem. If taking hormone doesn't really help and if you are on 325mcg and feeling badly, I would guess you should see someone who will get to the underlying cause. It could be a cortisol or glucose problem. You sound offended but you said you had nowhere to turn and I thought it might be helpful....... but feel free to ignore. We just have a difference of opinion.
My last bloods where 6.4, I have coeliac. I an ultra strict on eating and trying to shift some pounds. I see an nhs endo and have an appointment for private on Friday. I feel that it may be waste of money. Maybe it's just in my head. Hate moaning like energy.
Ask the private Endo to run the vits and mins tests for you, being hypo and a Coeliac makes it doubly hard for you to absorb nutrients from food. Deficiencies can also mess with thyroid hormone conversion. The basic tests needed are B12, folate, iron/ferritin, vit D and calcium. Other minerals can be deficient as well, particularly zinc.
