He replied that they don't normally do that, I also asked if they test for T3 too, he said they don't, and they only follow the National health guidelines..
Im hyperthyroid and taking 50g of levo, I still... - Thyroid UK
Im hyperthyroid and taking 50g of levo, I still feel awful most of the time, I mentioned this to my Dr and asked if he did my vitamin test.
Have you got any thyroid blood results you can post?
What your GP means by "we dont normally do that" is "you do know blood tests cost money dont you and we are not prepared to do that" so I would go back and ask again for these vitamins to be done and try and be a bit more asertive. GP's are on tight budgets and if they can get away with not doing something (and saving money in the bargin) then they will.
You could go back and ask for a referral for an endo saying that you think your would benefit from having further testing done and if you (the GP) are not prepared to do it then you would like to see someone who is.
Unfortunately the FT3 test is getting more and more difficult to get done, either by your GP or endo - even if they order it there has been numerous reports on here of labs ignoring it - so I wouldn't hold your breath for that one but vitamin tests should not be out of your reach.

Even when my endo had T3 on the list of things to be tested it was never done. The last time they didn't even bother to put it on.
On the other hand I asked about iron etc - he said he would prefer to do a full blood count, he 'wasn't convinced about Vitamin D' because ' there seems to be a fashion for having that done these days' wish I had seem that link to the video by some Israeli doctor (someone posted it on here) who was totally convinced by it but alas I hadn't seen it, anyway at the end of the week I am having the full blood thing done plus all the things I asked for etc but not vitamin D and (as usual!) not T3.
I would have thought scene was hyper would be able to get to see an endo then be able to ask for the other tests to be done. I got B12 done because my elderly mother had pernicious anaemia so if Denise discovered a family history of that her doc might be more willing to test B12.

So if Labs refuse it, why do they do that, and what do we do to make sure the requests of the GP or Endo is carried out..
He is NOT following the NHS guidelines but the ones set by the BTA or RCP!!! The NHS guidelines clearly state that thyroid illness must NOT be diagnosed or managed by blood tests alone!!!!
