The Author has Hashimoto's and the contributor is an MD
"What’s Really Going on in Hashimoto’s? Hashimoto's is more than just hypothyroidism. Most patients with Hashimoto's will present with acid reflux, nutrient deficiencies, anemia, intestinal permeability, food sensitivities, gum disorders and hypoglycemia in addition to the “typical” hypothyroid symptoms such as weight gain, cold intolerance, hair loss, fatigue and constipation. The body becomes stuck in a vicious cycle of immune system overload, adrenal insufficiency, gut dysbiosis, impaired digestion, inflammation, and thyroid hormone release abnormalities. This cycle is self-sustaining and will continue causing more and more symptoms until an external factor intervenes and breaks the cycle apart. The lifestyle interventions discussed in this book aim to dismantle the vicious cycle piece by piece. We start with the simplest modifications, by removing triggers, and follow with repairing the other broken systems to restore equilibrium, allowing the body to rebuild itself."
Do you think at last that someone is taking Hashimoto's seriously? My doctor just seems to think it's something to be ignored...mainly because he knows nothing about it I suspect.
Ah well....another book to plough through, but I am really quite excited about this.
I'll be back once I've devoured it!

..yes I have read the book and yes it is good. Have often mentioned it on this forum as there is a website too - shaws also quotes it ....you can sign up for Newsletters, so for those that find the book expensive - each Newsletter covers topics in the book so you can soon build up information. thyroidlifestyle.com
It's a tough discipline with food and lifestyle - but Izabella looks great !
Yes - saw this on Amazon and was impressed with the recommendations and the fact that the author is a highly qualified pharmacist, who was diagnosed with Hashimoto', and concerned to find so little information and research on it. I've not been diagnosed as having Hashimoto's but am still having many of the symptoms despite GP wanting to reduce my medication. I'd be really interested to know what you think.
Will post again once I have digested (tried to) all that the book tells me. Would be nice to try and solve the mystery of how I got the disease in the first place. Wonder if I will be able to?
....the most memorable words for me....think of yourself as having a problem with the immune system rather than a thyroid problem. Was quite pleased to read that as I have often mentioned those thoughts on this forum....it's a big step - but works. I already had two AI conditions so was part way there. Also why I have mentioned in other posts the need for Auto-immune Clinics. You are half-way there by just wanting to read the book...not sure it's just one thing that causes Hashimotos .... Enjoy the journey. Go for the 80/20 approach as it is impossible to be perfect
Another book that I found helpful was Dr Alexander Haskell's - Hope for Hashimotos. A similar explanation in some ways....healing the gut.
Thank you. I have a lot of reading ahead but as that is one of my great pleasures I will be in my element!
At the moment I seem to be up to my ears in thyroid problems as my very old cat (19 years) has just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism! After discussions with the vet and a lot of reading I have discovered that vets know about as much as doctors, which wasn't very helpful. Another case of "take a pill and hope". At least vets have to go more by a REAL diagnosis with symptoms as well as the blood tests. I have a feeling my cat will getter better treatment than I ever did! To date it has cost me £150 in one week...it's going to be an interesting but expensive experience
....so sorry to hear about your Cat - so sad.... We too have a Hypothyroid dog and there have been lots of posts concerning our pets. The general feeling was that cats and dogs are better cared for than most humans ! So it's 3 out of 3 in our house and with a tenant in our Guest House with UAT - making it 4 out 4 !! Hope everything settles down soon for you both..........
