Ta BD. Good stuff. That's a much more comprehensive description of the various means by which the thyroid gets taken out by auto immune disease, and on treatment approaches than i'd seen before.

What's very encouraging is that he's big on the possibility of the thyroid (and the body in general) recovering from even quite advanced auto immune disease if the underlying triggers (mostly dietary) and deficiencies are eliminated.

This is an excellent article. It summarises what I have come to believe about my own hypothyroid status. I eliminated wheat, eat hardly any grains ( a little rice very occasionally) cut down on legumes ( notably beans and peanuts) and do food combining (no starchy foods with proteins) to improve digestion. I have no hypothyroid symptoms - in the past had a lot of aches, pains, costochondritis, frozen shoulder, wrist joint weakness and pain. I haven't had my thyroid tested in a long time so don't know if I'm technically still showing high TSH but the levothyroxine never suited me so after about 4 tries I stopped taking it. I have several mercury fillings but they only caused me problems when my gut barrier was permeable. I used to have hay fever for many years and poor sleep but that's been gone for 7 years now.
