the range for TSH on my form is (0.3 to 5.0 mU/L) and the range for the Free T4 is (11 to 27 pmol/L). My TSH is 4.1 and my Free T4 is 14.

The range for Prolactin is 0 - 500 and my last one was 934.

Can you post the lab ranges so we can see where your results are on the reference range?

Hiya...yeah the range for TSH on my form is (0.3 to 5.0 mU/L) and the range for the Free T4 is (11 to 27 pmol/L). My TSH is 4.1 and my Free T4 is 14. Thanks for replying to my post by the way. I realise the Uk ranges are still a bit old fashioned as it said on Thyroiduk site.

Hi Ranges essential at of the Lab you are using, a lot different., but the TSh looks probably on the high side. You need TSH, T4 and Free T3 for a proper analysis, with ranges on the print out. There are other test but, start with those

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi It is hard getting a Free T3 test done now, NHS, costs. However, you really need it, if you think you have a problem , you need TSH, T4 and Free T3 done together, the only way to know what is really happening. The NHS here can no longer do FT3, so I pay and have it done at Blue Horizon, main site, finger prick or venous, but do not use Spire or Nuffield ( costly) H.B . are very reasonable. quote TUK 10 for a discount. They are really a well known lab so all docs Know them, they are really a lab called TDL which all the private hospitals use..,, unlike some private Labs All test are very good and reliable. You would lso benefit from antibody for thyroid tests. The Pituitary test you had is better done as a 24 hour urine collection test My Endo considers it is the most reliable one Have you ever had a head injury, even a minor one as a child? There is a close relationship between the 2, quite recent research, proved.. I hope that helps., although it would surprise me with a TSH that high,

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hi It takes a long while to get the thyroid dose right , with frequent blood tests followed by alterations in meds ( usually up) and common to go down again when been on the dose a few weeks. Eventually it balances on the right dose. After about 3 months try and get some T3 too, a little, split the dose ,12 hour apart. Ask the GP if you can try it ,if you think you need it.Never take any thyroid meds or beta Blockers on the morning befoe the test.

Good that you have been diagnosed, in months you will feel so much better.

Best wishes.

Hiya

I have a funny feeling they dont do T3 at my surgery but could ask. I am gonna ask for antibody test this week too. Thanks for the tips about the tests....appreciated as may go down that route if no results from doc ap this week or maybe my family will help with private costs I dunno. I think if my prolactin is still high they may send me to and endocrinologist I dunno but I will ask them to if still high. I had no idea about the head injury thing but yes I didnt breath properly for six mins when I was born so maybe a very slight brain injury there but dunno....ive had a few bangs since then but nothing serious. You think my TSH is high? Thanks for your advice...:)
