You could do but you could also try a decent quality protein shake if you're going to do that and make it with whole milk. You could even put some fruit in a blender and then mix in a little protein powder. Bananas are quite good in smoothies and have a reasonable amount of energy too. Have a look on-line and see if you can find some good smoothie recipes that contain milk or yoghurt and protein powder or even just some plain fruit ones. If you do decide to try anything like shakes or protein powders, make sure they aren't soya.

When I am needing extra protein because I'm training harder than usual, I get mine from Myprotein.com on-line. They are very reliable and they have some nice flavours. If you can't have dairy, they have casein protein protein too. They are useful if you are having a day where you just don't want to eat but need something. Best not to go overboard on this though. Perhaps alternate with fruit smoothies, with or without yoghurt, to get some nutrients into you. I also bought the shaker and scoop as they were quite cheap. It makes mixing the shakes very easy :)

You might want to consider taking some supplements too as you won't be getting much if you are not able to eat at the moment.

I hope you feel better soon

A fantastic double whammy is to make a protein shake using Kefir.

It's a bit of a rigmarole to grow and strain but the health benefits of Kefir for immune/gut is well documented.

It may take time to adjust to it but used a few times a week should be of benefit.

Some whey shakes are mostly protein and other have less protein , but more vits/minerals.

Not cheap but a good source, esp. if non meat eater like me.

Body building stores have good advisors -and competitive prices but you have to buy a big tin ;) [so 'trial' if poss.]

35 years ago when I was expecting my daughter, morning sickness lasted all day and I could hardly eat a thing. My Health Visitor (a dying breed now I think) recommended Complan as it has all vitamins and minerals in it. Think tastes have improved nowadays as well. Wish you well. Janet.

Go to boots and look for the high calorie shakes for people who are ill and need extra energy. They are next to the slim fasts and diet stuff but are designed for giving you extra vits, mins & calories. Too much protein puts a lot of stress on your kidneys etc and if you are not eating right, your kidneys are not going to be getting what they need in order to function right (people with kidney problems are recommended a low-protein diet). Protein shakes and slim fasts also have lots of sugar in them (most of your RDA in 1 drink), what you need is slow release that is going to help build your energy up without giving you the sugar high & subsequent sugar crash. I used to enjoy making my own smoothies with some fruit, yoghurt, oats and honey. Emphasis on some fruit, not lots of fruit. Bananas are slow release so I always had a banana in the mix. Just my own research and experience :-)
