And the only way I can think of relieving them is to be on the correct dosage of thyroid medication.

I have found that one way to help my stomach is to eat little and often, and avoid anything with too much sugar. The worst combination for me is acidic fruit cooked with sugar, the pain is almost unbearable then, So I have learned if I want to eat something like apple and blackberry pie (just this time of year!) then it has to be only a very tiny portion.
It has improved as my thyroid medication has increased to nearer optimal levels. I have hopes it will clear up altogether. There is a general view that the stomach pain is not so much caused by too much acid as too little in hypothyroidism, the symptoms are similar. It is known that low thyroid levels do generally mean low stomach acid, and that can lead to deficiencies due to poor digestion and absorption of nutrients, in particular Vitamin B12 and iron.

Thanks Marie, I've just discovered over the past 24 hours that citrus fruit is antagonising the stomach acidity. I've been eating grapefruit daily and squeezing fresh lemon juice in my drinking water. All lovely and refreshing and doing it to try and kick start my metabolism. I stopped it and the improvement is much better. Stomach not 100% but miles better from 24 hours ago! x
yes, all of the above
