I became intolerant to synthetic thyroxine in Oct last year and had to start reducing. Went from 125 to 12.5mcg a day by Christmas. T3 didn't suit. Been trying get back on Levo since with supervision by GP but only on about 37mcg now as can only tolerate tiny increases but not felt well since I was taking about 12.5/18 mcg a day. Suddenly developed painful and stiff knees and think it spreading to hands. Was all right a week ago. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, any idea what it is and what to do? Fingers quite swollen and circulation been bad for some time. Any help gratefully received as very alarmed.

I would ask to be referred to an endocrinologist. If you are intolerant to levothyroxine, there are other ones without lactose and one member takes purified thyroxine as she was unable to take either levo,NDT or T3.
