How do I approach my Dr. to do the t3 and t4 test. What should they be??
You simply ask, but it is much better to be well informed before you do so. Start off by following this link:

Find the symptoms list and tick off symptoms you have, take list to your doctor, ask for a thyroid investigation. Main site is most informative, well worth reading all you can there.
It is unlikely the T3 will be done as labs can refuse, but you can try. Post test results here plus their ranges as labs differ. Never accept a GP saying "normal" or "fine", always get a copy of results, you are entitled to this.

Hi Gold, this chart shows the absolute relationship of the three tests. It would take some calculating but I just want you to see the importance of knowing all three to understand whether your treatment is optimal. I don't know if you are taking anything at the moment but if you do start treatment, press to get to your correct dosage.
There are also other issues that impact how your body and the medication will work for you, i.e. B12, ferritin, folate, etc.
