Patiently waiting.....

Waiting for my results email to drop into my inbox.

I bought a Blue Horizon advanced thyroid fingerprint test. Once I'd got the hang of dripping blood into the tiny container all was well!

Last time they took my blood it really was not a good experience. The phlebotomist was obviously a beginner and stuck me a number of times, waggled the needle around in my arm for ages, etc until I asked him to stop and the chap who'd been observing him took over. This time I'm wondering if the fingertip method would be easier and more convenient (and less painful).

I will watch your developments with interest and if all goes well I may do the same myself. Good luck.

Is your username a reflection of your experience?!

It was a bit tricky at first so I had to use all 3 of the finger prickers they sent

Get your blood flowing round your body - maybe a brisk walk?

Wash your hands for ages in very warm/hot water.

Shake your arm.

Then do the finger-prick lancet thingy.

When I used to self test for Gout SUA -I used to whirl my arm around a few times when particularly cold in the vein dept! Don't overdo though ;)

I used the Blue Horizon test, done it last year then again this March.

Last year I just got an email with the breakdown of all the results. In March I had to ring to ask where the rest of my results were as they only sent me TSH, 3 hours later I get the full results through, my TSH was 3.99 (0.27-4.2), T3 4.4 (3.1 - 6.8) Free Thyroxine 14.4 (12.0 - 22.0) .................... AND a statement saying that I was NOT hypothyroid and all levels were normal!!

I was flabbergasted to say the least!!

Hi again ChemicalAngel. Can you please tell me where to find this test (a code or a link or something)? I've gone through their a-z of tests and have done a search and can't find a finger sample thyroid test.
