im on 25mcg of levothyroxine for about a week now and ive been getting palpitations is this normal at the beginning?
That does happen sometimes at the beginning, although your dose is very small. I assume you have just been diagnosed, therefore you should have another blood test in about 4 to 6 weeks and an increase in your medication.
You take your levo first thing in the morning with a full glass of water and breakfast about half to one hour later. Some find it more convenient to take meds at bedtime, if so you should have the last thing to eat two hours before meds as your stomach should be empty.
Always get a copy of your blood tests complete with the ranges and if you have a query you can post them for comments. If you haven't already had a vit B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate ask for these to be done, especially as the first two are usually deficient in hypothyroidism.
If the GP should say 'normal' check with the forum for confirmation, as 'normal' should mean relief of symptoms, not blood tests within range.
Regards.
