by prolactin in the pituatery gland. I have already been told my pituatary is sluggish even though my thyroid is within normal limits albeit high. I wonder if they should examine my pituatary with all these strange symptoms?

Hi there Scottlady, the Domperidone is the cause of the swollen, sore breasts. It is in the Patient Information Leaflet:

xpil.medicines.org.uk/viewp...

It says it is an 'uncommon' reaction (i.e. less than 1 in 100) but that sounds fairly common to me.

It also mentions 'uncontrolled movements' or 'abnormal posture such as a twisted neck...muscle stiffness'

I hope you have your Patient Information Leaflet, which should show this information.

Under the circumstances I would go back to the doctor and ask him about these side effects which you are suffering. It is possibly your pituitary but since you are taking this drug and your symptoms are listed as side effects, it is far more likely to be the drug.

You say your thyroid is within normal limit albeit high? What is high? Your TSH?

I notice you have been discussing your 'sluggish pituitary' before, have you had further tests including the actual thyroid hormones? If you do not have enough thyroid hormone being produced because it is not being stimulated then you will almost certainly have some form of digestive disorders, and the doctor is giving you Domperidone when thyroid treatment might be more effective. I say 'might', because I do not know what your thyroid hormone levels are. Not being a doctor, I could be barking up the wrong tree.

Nevertheless, If I were in your shoes I would be at the doctor's door telling him about these side effects, and also asking for more thyroid function tests including the Free T4 and T3, rather than just the TSH.

Hi. Just to let you know that I also take domperidone for what we think is gastroparesis ( not had a definate diagnosis ).

I don't have the same side effects you do. I get heart pain which is also listed as a side effect. Luckily, I don't seem to have any other side effects.

I am not on meds and hope my digestion will improve when optimised.

Best wishes
