Hi, thank you so much for your reply. I did wonder about carpol tunnel? How strange that we could suffer with something like that from having thyroid issues

. Nothing really should surprise me anymore. Keep well

Definitely Carpal Tunnel. Would go if you were properly treated. You perhaps need to look at your blood test next time and see if you are under-medicated.

I had this on taking thyroxine. I did not have it before. I may have been on too low a dose. I used to call it my 'frosty toes and fingers.' I could not tolerate thyroxine. When I tried t3 it did not happen.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I had sore wrists, thumbs, spine and knees and thought it was arthritis. Put up with it for years. Then diagnosed with overacitve thyroid. After thyroidectomy bone pains disappeared. Still got wrist and bone pain when meds out of kilter. Now taking a combo of T4 and T3 no bone pain at all. Also, endo advised vit D and omega 3. Incidentally my bloods were normal' the bone pain was bad went to see endo that's when I added T3 to my regime. Best of luck. It took me six years to get back to "normal".

Hello, Try taking your tablet at night nothing to eat or drink for 2 hours either side, I take mine about 4am in the morning. This was recommended to me by fellow sufferer and it does help. I have had an operation for carpel tunnel on one hand and it is also worth doing if the pain and pins and needles are really bad. E.g unable to hold things for long. Good Luck.

Hi,

It's me again. Did you get my rather long reply to your concerns about T3 being like gold dust , only the screen went blank. Will rewrite if not

I bought a pair of fingerless gloves to wear when I use the computer or even to wear to bed because of stiff, sore hands, esp the back of the left hand, exacerbated by cold. I don't think mine is carpal tunnel, but could be osteomalacia. How are your vit d levels?

I had the same problem with my wrists, thumb, elbows, neck and ankles but all symptoms disappeared when my thyroxine was increased. I still get it slightly if I have a glass of wine the night before though so now hardly ever have any due to the aches afterwards. It only takes 1 glass for me to feel the aches again.

I was getting a lot of wrist and finger pain and stiffness. It was diagnosed as carpal tunnel and I was given anti inflammatories and told to rest (I'm a pianist). Hasn't come back since I changed from T4 to T3.

Sorry you did not get the reply here goes again. I saw GP after 3 monthly bloods came back normal. I could barely walk without bone pain. Told GP bloods may be ok but I am not. Since i don't do sick very well I Asked for referral to endo. Asked endo for Armour she didn't agree with it but said she would give me T3 although she didn't seem that keen as I am mid 50's and she was worried i may have a heart attack. Told her i was fed up of feeling "ill" and wanted to try it. If not i would see somebody privately. Was taking 150 mcg T4 when I saw her which I had increased from 125 in the hope that I was under medicated and symptoms would go. They didn't. First thing I did was reduce T4 to 100 for a couple of weeks. I then took 5 micrograms (1/4 of a tablet)in the morning for a week, although i had been prescribed 10 micrograms, thought would take it slowly. The following week took 100 mcgT4 and 5mcg in the morning and 5mcg T3 at bed time. After a couple of weeks on this regime started to feel well. Started walking again, 3 miles a day at least max 9. Saw endo again 12 weeks later and agreed to increase T3 to 20 mcg, split, 10mcg morning 10 at night with a reduction of T4 to 75. Saw endo 12 weeks later and blood work showed that whilst my TFT's are abnormal (so that means i don't fall into the normal range, not much of a surprise there ) I remained more euthyroid than for many years. So that was a year ago. I still have 75mcg T4 and 20mcg T3 and feel just like I did before thyroidectomy. Don't forget the vitamin D and omega 3. So you may want to ask your GP to give you T4/T3 combination trial or see an endo. I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon.
